— What to expect

Starting the day with shopping at Barbate market to learn about local fish, visit a tuna preserve shop and have coffee with Manteca Iberica (Iberian pork fat) on toast (the best part of the day!) in a local Venta before heading back to the kitchen to prepare lunch. Dishes such as Pescado a la Sal with salsa verde, fresh local prawns with dipping sauce, clams, fresh anchovies/boquerones (for you to gut!), and chocolate & almond cake. Also included will be a preserved tuna tasting & splash of Sherry education.

  • Visit to Barbate Mercado de Abastos to buy fish
  • Visit to tuna preserve shop
  • Late breakfast in a Vanta (country inn)
  • Hands-on cooking class with Annie B (approx. 4–5 hrs)
  • All ingredients and the use of kitchen equipment

  • Olive oil & local product tasting

  • Sherry/wine pairings with lunch

  • Shared lunch featuring the dishes you cook

  • An apron is provided for use during the class

We normally stop for a late local breakfast after Barbate so please don't start your day with a big breakfast!
