Thursday – Arrive in Vejer, Tapas Tour
We meet in the evening for a tapas tour of Vejer de la Frontera, so it’s straight into the deep end as we wander the cobbled streets from bar to bar enjoying the best tapas & Sherry on offer in Vejer.
Friday – Spanish Classics Tapas Cooking Class
This morning we visit the food market in Vejer to shop for local produce for the day’s class. The region’s local wines and Sherry are a perfect match for tapas but choosing which to have with what dish can be difficult. In this class, we will be trying different wines & Sherry and matching these with our tapas dishes. You will also learn all about the classic Spanish gazpacho, which is a delicious cold soup traditionally made from tomatoes, but we will explore other variations and also make melon gazpacho, and almond & garlic gazpacho.
Followed by a free evening for you to explore the town and, of course, the tapas menus!
Saturday – Local Andalucian Tapas Cooking Class
Today we build on your newfound knowledge of tapas; we will delve deeper into the flavours and intricacies of the dishes and ingredients that are typical of Andalucia. This is also an opportunity to sharpen your Sherry knowledge as we move through the complex pairings and explore outside of the ordinary; for instance, Spanish cheese is so much than just manchego, think a delicate local goats cheese perfectly balanced with asparagus jam!
This evening we test our knife skills in a Jamon carving class and discover preserved tuna and pork in tastings of some of the regions finest conserves.
